the risk, day 3, week 1
Today its all about the risk, the entire group meet to do the regular exersise of walm up, exitment and antisipation are in the air, the grouped discusses the poem the road not taken
"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost" (http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-road-not-taken/ 24th October 2012)
We discussed the meaning of the poem, and how it was possibly saying in life you have choices, the two roads being a meterphor for desissions we make, we have the choice of the easy road or rougth high road, and are the rewards greater if you take the hard route.
We then had to pick a quote from the ground and get into our groups, we were joined today by new group members Kev Glover and Sinead Maddix, as a 7 we got to work talking about our personal risks again, going into ideas of what we could do with our risks and come up with a concept for our performance.
At one point we toyed with the idea of a split between a school of the 1970s and 2000s to show how youth had changed within a generation, but unfortunatly, even with an improvised rehersal to toy with the idea, it just didn't seem to work. We went home to ponder ideas for the following week.
It was during this break I had a lightbulb moment where we physically take the audience on a journey after remembering a quote a lecturer at college had once said to me "theatre is a journey" it was this that inspired me to pit to the group that the performance roam the grounds of cannon hill park, the idea was well recieved and as a group we discussed routes, possible sinarios and staging ready for the next week.

week one, day two, introductiin to the risk
So its the second day, and the first day at the MAC theatre, such an amazing building, situated on the back of cannon hill park.
We all got to the MAC early and their was a real buzz about the group, it seemed as though we had a group spark and all blended with each other really well.
We were under the instruction of Ellie Darville today, who had us walk around the room ducking and diving at the call of a certain phrase, we then were instructed to pair up with someone who we had not spoken to, I paired with Beth hunt, we then had to share three facts with our partner which we had to share with the group, I found out Beth loved musicals, wearing pajamas tops put in public and was looking for employment, my facts to her were I worked at topman, previously attended wolverhampton university and also was a fan of musicals, in paticular wicked.
We then had to walk arround the room and when ellie called out a number we had to form a mini group of that number, eventually we ended up in a group of 5, this group would become the guys I worked on risk with.
The risk group consisted of myself, Jon Mayling, Zoe Horton, Lexia Tomlinson and Dannel Betton. Together we all spoke openly and candidly about risks we had taken in the past, mine was signing up for the course, Zoes taking a roll within a week of show night, and Jons sharing his skill for writing and performing music to his family.
We then re-grouped to do a mega mind map, in which the entire group wrote what they saw as a risk in life, this was a real eye opener. Just to see what ideas people came up with.
The next couple of weeks will be extremely intresting to see what we all come up with.

The risk, week one
Day one
First day of a new chapter in my life, sitting on the bus on my way to Matthew Boulton, I could feel the nerves building, how would I cope? Would I be accepted by the rest of the group? Was I doing the right thing? I knew that if I was going to make thisz work, I had to push all my insecuritys the back of my mind, forget about the past, have a clean slate and focus on the future.
Walking into the main meeting hall was daunting, I spotted faces I had met previously on a pre uni outing, it was comforting to know that I wasn't on my own.
As proceedings got underway we met our lecturers who would be guiding us as a group through the course for the next two years, it was amazing to find out them and the course, we found out Ellie would be our main academic tutor.
As a form of bonding for the group Ellie introduced an exercise where we stood in a circle and used a nown infront of our names with the same letter as our name, and put an action to it.
Mine was doopy Danny, I fought it was quit inventive considering it was an on the spot job.
We then went ok to play a concentration exercise, needless to say. I was another rusty, we had to throw a ball netween each other and remember the order in which the ball went, I got the whole concept but kept over thinking "if I drop this ball I'm going to look right doopy, so it happened, luckily I have a mature group who made me feel really at ease with the situation.
At the end of the day I left that building a lot more confident than when I entered, filled with antisipation of the weeks to come.
